South Wales Specialist Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Centre

“Our team is very appreciative of the investment we’ve made in the quality products of MELAG, since it streamlines our entire hygiene workflow, which eventually the patient is benefitting from.” Mr Craig Mallorie - Oral Surgeon and Clinical Director

Mr Craig Mallorie's South Wales Specialist Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Centre is a state-of-the-art Specialist Oral Surgery Centre in Cardiff, Wales which is custom-designed to provide specialist oral surgery, dental implantology, and prosthodontic treatments. The centre has two operating rooms and two consultation rooms and is well equipped to provide the best possible care for their patients, many of whom are referred by general dentists and general medical practitioners. Mr Craig Mallorie has worked in 25 different practices over his career, including in London’s Harley Street, Australia and across the UK. During this time he has been exposed to a great variety of equipment available on the market which enabled him to really appreciate and understand the difference in quality between the various manufacturers. With MELAG devices, the quality and innovation have always been evident: The speed and reliability of the instrument reprocessing as well as the resource-saving and user-friendly operation of the MELAG System Solutions meant that when Mr Mallorie was designing his own Specialist Centre there was only one brand that he felt he could trust to deliver at the level of quality that he expects for his patients.

An efficient reprocessing cycle with maximum patient safety is particularly important in Mr Mallorie's practice in order to meet the demands of their high daily patient volume: With up to sixteen complex procedures in the morning and ten to twelve in the afternoon between the two operating rooms, it is essential that surgical instruments are reprocessed precisely, efficiently and reliably.

The coordinated MELAG System Solutions make a seamless and maximum safety-guaranteeing daily practice routine possible. The surgical instruments, organized with the MELAstore System enabling standardized workflows, are taken from the surgery room to the dedicated decontamination room after their employment, rinsed if necessary and then placed in the MELAtherm 10. The large number of MELAtherm 10 baskets available make diverse instrument arrangements possible, which is necessary due to the wide range of surgical treatments in Mr Mallorie's practice.

After complete cleaning and disinfection of the instruments, Mr Mallorie's team particularly appreciates the reliability of the active drying as it protects the instruments from recontamination, corrosion and damage. Subsequently, the MELAstore trays with the instrument sets for surgical treatments are inserted and packed into the corresponding MELAstore Boxes. The MELAstore System is also highly valued since it is significantly saving packaging waste and thus being very environmentally-friendly, as well as facilitating the well thought-out organization of the individualized instrument arrangements along the whole reprocessing cycle. This way, the MELAstore System speeds up and simplifies the clinical workflow through its intuitive handling and efficient integration into the workflow for re-sterilization, especially with the Vacuclave 550.

The Vacuclave 550 is highly appreciated by the Specialist Oral Surgery decontamination team, especially for its large capacity: With its 50-liters capacity, the Vacuclave 550 can sterilize up to 25 kg of instruments in just 13 - 43 minutes. The Specialist Centre is therefore able to complete an entire instrument reprocessing cycle, from cleaning, disinfection, maintenance, packaging and sterilization of the instruments, in just 90 minutes, which makes the very high volume of operations possible for the clinic. In addition to the autoclaves’ water stand-alone concept, the numerous sterilization program options of the MELAG autoclaves, such as fast cycles, would help to quickly sterilize individual instruments and thus provide great flexibility and efficiency to the practice's decontamination and re-sterilisation workflow.

Finally, Mr Mallorie emphasizes that the coordinated integration of the MELAtherm 10, Vacuclave 550, Vacuklav 43 B+ Evolution and MELAstore Trays and Boxes into a holistic System Solution would prove very user-friendly and enable a reliable workflow, significantly increasing the speed and efficiency of instrument reprocessing. MELAG appreciates Mr Craig Mallorie's South Wales Specialist Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Centre in Cardiff for putting their complete  trust in the reliability, and 100% made in Germany, quality of MELAG and we are pleased to jointly contribute to maximum infection prevention and patient protection.
